St185/ST205 GT4 WRC/GROUP A/ RC = Celica redemption thats not been matched by any other toyota on an international scale

OH - and keep the honda , if you cant afford to play the modifying game ..

If you can - 1ggte, truetrac rear end , a swag of kit from whiteline for the suspension , and some swett sweet rims and you will have an awesome 80's based retro beast.. Brake upgrade are easy thru a few mates i have in OZ who adapt either FPV ford brakes , or a combination of Skyline and 300ZX big brakes - convert to 5 stud pattern to suit and the wheel choice is pretty much endless

the 82-85 ish celica supras are a very very nice piece of kit and handle bloody well for an 80's car - especially if you have a Ma61 which got all the goodies ( 5mge, w series box , IRS rear end , lotus suspension , FLARES !! bigger brakes i believe too from the factory)

Slap a 1jz or a 7m in one of these bad boys and they hammer and Still look cool

As for the comment about celicas being redemed with there 4wd RC versions, why did they bin them and run corollas in the WRC?

The homologation rules changed - instead of having to build a minimum of 5000 road going version of the WRC cars, they could base it on any car in their range that they sold more than 25 or 50,000 in a year. Hence a Corolla ;)

Fixed

My (fairly limited) experience with 4wd celicas can only be described as... thoroughly underwhelming. :?

The 205's are vastly improved over the 185's, so if you're basing any experience on the 185, you need to get into a 205.

Yep you're right, only 185s.

And yes I dont doubt that the 205s are much better, or that modified 185s can go well. Gave a 185 a good cane through some twisties which was a bit of fun, but definitely a few notches down from the SW.

Yeah no doubt, I'd looked at GT Fours before the MR2. Nuff said
