with rallying, as you probably know, the driver plays such a huge part that 20hp can be overcome..... by some!

and I'll let you think on why I'm trying to get every HP I can.
As you probably know. Most rally drivers drive to the limit, get a co driver and drive several steps over the limit, and then when pushed take a step or two further.
I've spent the last 17 years with no co dog, 1/2 the corners being blind, most with tricks to rip the suspension from the car, a fair percentage of time spent with far too little traction in a point and squirt car. I'm now building a car that will be expensive to repair and on a race when budget allows basis. It'll take me a while to get to trust the car and co dog, get used to the surface (far too much grip for my liking) and build a reasonable budget so that I can throw the car a little harder.
Have I missed any lame excuses?
However an engine is a sum of its components. You never throw away 20 cheap HP in favour of attempting to gain it back somewhere else. The restrictor and the consequential effects on the configuration of engine components is what determines which cars have the potential to run at the front and which at the rear. I'll debate this for days, suck everyone's opinions, flow test every reasonable theroy, if it could possibly gain me a 20hp.
I know the car is heavy, I know the engine is reasonably capable, I know the drive train is strong. I know I'm a reasonable, very clinical, agressvie, sometimes a little conservitive driver. I'm not flucking around here, I either have to have the potential to run at the front (pre 96, with a couple of years development) Or I'll go do something else.
Anyone for Bar Stool racing. I have a nice strong 3sgte that would be wonderful in one.
