How to 'reloom' wiring? (eg. wrap it up)

Postby RomanV » Sun Apr 29, 2007 3:13 pm

Okay so in my Carina, I've used an ST202 celica loom. Everything is sweet, only 4 wires need to be lengthened, for the airflow meter. However I've had to pull all of the covering etc off my loom, and I want to know a good way to wrap it all back up, and protect it from the heat of the exhaust etc.

Any good ideas?

You can either use any of the various loom tubes like the splits stuf or just the normal loom tubing that comes invarious shapes/sizes & then just tape up anywhere else that's needed. Can also use SpiraWrap & then tape it. Or if you want to get really industrious you could always shrink wrap the whole lot, it's the way a lot of our Mil spec looms come completely shrink wrapped from end to end.

I tend to cable tie the loom together then wrap in conduit and heatshrink the ends. Bear or Hamal tape is awesome stuff and $2 a roll from Appco from mem. Its wide, stretches and doesn't leave that goo sh1t residue when you pull it off.

One thing ive found, use cheap tape (10 rolls for $5 from mitre10 mega)

it streches really well, not like the vinyl, also the thick expesive vinyl doesnt flex as well around corners etc.

then just the split stuff that comes on factory cars. I use all the old loom stuff (have about 10+ sitting around so just steal it off them lol)
