BZ-R acceleration?

Postby Tumacki » Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:17 pm

when you floor it in any gear, is it factory that what feels like the cams kick in at around 3.5k and 4k or are they aftermarket. bearing in mind its quite a kick, enough to tweak the steering.

Thanks.
Power is how fast you hit the wall... Torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Vtec :P

If it affects the steering, it doesn't sound standard..(you are holding the wheel during this test?)

They do have most of their power up high, so it does feel like it "kicks" around then, but it shouldnt be enough to affect steering.

Only ones that I have driven don't have a huge kick, only smooth power increase around then.

Only one that kicked was not running right (cam was off a tooth). Ran shit down low, and power kicked in higher up.

Yeah a kick of acceleration at those revs would imply something being not right down low. If it were due to something being "worked" I'd expect it to get hot a bit further up in the rev range and probably more progressive. Weak spark maybe?

sounds normal to me,
I got the facelift bz-g, about that rev range there is a bit of a boost of power although not really a huge kick in of power. Have felt a little bit of torque steer a few times.

I just put it down to the huge power of the 20v

My car gets a fair amount of torque steer and tramlines a bit on the 205's.

after 3500-4000 as stated above there is a little twitch in 1st, can't remember if it's there in 2nd... I drive like a nana

That is a very dirty looking plate :P

You 20v drivers definitely need better tires haha - are these not LSD equipped cars?

BZR have LSD.
The kick might be a sing of something going wrong.
On other hand might be nothing at all.
The 20v theoretically should not get any substantial torque steer due to equal drive shaft lengths.

yeah i'd go with not quite right down low.....

i've managed to get torque steer at 7k with open trumpets, nothing of the sorts with factory intake in place tho.

what mods it got?

just 15inch rims, took the trumpets? out of the plentum chamber and k&n panel

Torque steer sounds about right. if you change up from 1st and hit the spot exactly, it chirps the tires. (Potenza semi's)

Can I ask why you took the trumpets out?....

It will be coz the trumpets are out prolly, less down low power making it feel like it kicks harder in that area

we took the covers off and took out the cam and its a high lift installed in japan and then we put it on the dyno and the hp lifts alot around that rev range and so does the torque. dyno's at 136kw
