hilux engine

Postby 4TEAZN » Mon May 07, 2007 10:12 pm

hey, im lookin at engine options for my 94 double cab hilux, im thinkin 1uzfe at the moment,, but i am also lookin at sellin up and buyin a single cab hilux that has been converted to 3sgte and goes bloody well, im thinking both would be reasonably quick but the 3sgte probably has more scope for future mods? also if i go with the 1uzfe into my hilux who do people reccomend to go to, im thinkin performance metalworks as they aparently do a $10k turn key package, any help appreciated and new suggestions welcome, thanks.

If you're looking at 10K then why not look into the 2GR-FSE. 3.5l V6 with dual vvt-i and gasoline direct injection. 350HP standard. Would be completely different only hard part would be converting it from east-west to north-south.

I do love it when people say that sort of thing...

For a tow ute, 1UZ, for a round town(as in daily driver), 3sgte, if you're looking for a round town show car, 1UZ

i use it just to carry motox bikes around and just as a wknd car as i dont need to drive to work because i live so close, i originally thought 1uzfe into my lux but i can get this 3sgte ute for about 7k cheaper then it would cost to do mine all up and it has lot of extras and is still bloody quick.

I got 2JZGE in my Surf, still got 4x4 and it cost no where near $10k. If I got 10K, I'll go for 2JZGTE and still have $$ spare..
I got mr "ke20" to do it for me.. as he got 2JZGE in his 2WD double cab too.

Maybe can ask if he will do it for you for under $10k

Only thing I was thinking was finding the right gearbox to match the engine as I'm not sure the current gearbox would work so well.

You ever seen one of their conversions? They look factory, its so awesome.
I think $10k to drive in with your standard Hilux, then drive out with a V8 powered one without supplying anything is pretty bloody good.

1UZ might cost you say $1500 with loom ecu and auto trans. I'd just use the auto trans... simple and cheap might need to get someone good to do custom extractors so they don't hit anything (like chassis, steering).

2JZGE with loom, ecu and auto trans might cost $1500 (or less) as well... probably get a whole car for that $. Same as above - just use the auto. exhaust will be simpler than 1UZ

3SGE - buy an altezza motor and gearbox etc, maybe $2000 to $3000? might get you the 6speed manual.

3VZ - 3 litre V6... buy one from a V6 SURF... bolt in :) not heaps of power as the surf V6 is only a 12valve (I think). No idea of the price probably not worth it for the $... 3000 to 5000?

I would go for the 2JZGE option. Do some homework on what sump position you want.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Don't even bother with a 3vz, hopeless engines, of about 100 or so I've driven, none have been very nice.

Mind you, if some surf owners actually looked after their cars they would be a little better... :?

Yeah the V6 in the surf isn't as good as the camry version 12 valves vs 24 valves.

3.4 litre?
check the year please.
thats not a 3vz
the 3vz is rather gutlless, not a lot better in the camry!!
personally, id only ever use one for a boat anchor.

the 1uz with auto is a rather easyish option

i still want to get an auto v6 surf and stick a 1uz in it.....
