What is Good for a Caldina GTT

Hi All

I'm looking for a good chch installer that can fit an alarm. Someone thats done a Caldina before and isn't a backyard monkey.

Also what Alarm system would be best and cost effective. I was quote $570 for and Mongoose M60G or a Dynatron D3800.

Any feedback on those brands?

Pauls Audio in Chch - they do dynatron.

As for choice, i run a mongoose m60g and it does the job fine. Dynatron are good well known brand and also come with a decent featureset

I got the M80G in my car which proved to be a good investment when some thieving scum tried to nick my car last night.Gave him a bloody good fright

Spent 2k on the alarm in mine Figured 10% of the car's value wasn't too much at the time..

Yes I'm working to a budget .... I call my budget fiance and that = no $2000 alarm

However just want something keep scum from stealing it like they did to my Primera

alarm will act as a deterrant and may prevent a car being stolen, but there is nothing stopping them getting a forklift and lifting the car up and chucking it on a trailer if they so wish.

the m60g has stopped some thieves from attempting to steal my car previously and an alarm is a decent investment to ward off scum.

5 - 7.5% of total car cost on alarm is nothing in comparison to hoops that you have to go through if the car is stolen.

I was quote $570 for a Dynatron D3800.

that seems quite a bit, I have similar alarm to that, installed for $400 over 3 years ago.


AS above tho, go see Pauls Audio.

It's good to get a decent alarm but imo the install is worth a lot more in regards to the car getting stolen, a good and well thought out install is what will save your car getting stolen from a professional thief ie where they but the immobilizes etc..

I got a dynatron 7800 from pauls in chch.

no thieves yet, but its easier to use than the 3800 (due to alarm remote thingy)

and also while you are getting an alarm installed get them to chuck an internal screamer while they are there..... I did and I'd wouldnt wan to be in my car when it goes off!

Ok I have emailed Pauls Audio, Auto Sound and Security and installer services. Here in CHCH

Brands vary as do prices. Does anyone have any comments on the following. (all prices include installation)

Pauls: Dynatron D3800 - $599
Pauls: Dynatron D7800 - $699

Autosound: Dynatron - D3800 - $570
Autosound: Mongoose M60G - $570

Installer Services: Uniden VS1600 - $349

If anyone has experience with any of these items please let me know. There seems to be plenty of support for Pauls Audio here in the forums. I have usually dealt with Autosound in the past and been very please. but this is going back at least 4 years now, so I haven't had dealing with them for quite some time.

the mongoose m60g is a good choice as it has turbo timer interface built in so can run off existing turbo timer. if you dont have an existing turbo timer you could go for the avs s5 which has the ability to run as a tubo timer aswell

both alarms installed u'd prob be looking round the 500 mark

We put the M80G in our Caldina too - and added the auto windup feature for a bit of "wank" factor, works really well.
