a stock intake or exhaust port should have none or little grinding marks on it and have the look of a smooth casting

ported or polished ports should have grinding marks (like if you sanded it) and if polished may be smooth(unlike a cast surface)

its hard to see on your pics as they dont focus well on the port walls

Pic from the bottom would be good.

But does look kinda... un ported...
If you've got a gasket put that up against head. Often ported heads don't match up all that well with a standard gasket.

rang the guy who i brought the engine off (professional) said i don't think it's been ported, he then yelled at me for 4 minutes before i finally hanged up. now before i get the police involved want to know just exactly if you could call this work a 'full port and polish' as he called it

got another head to compare with

If it was a full port and polish then the intake valve guides would have been blended to assist air flow, yours havent even been touched...

whats the valve seats look like?

I'd have to agree. The other thing is the port divider. It just doesnt look touched.

In addition, in some of the first photos it looks like there is still casting marks on the port walls.

No porting.

havn't been able to steal another camera yet.

the divider looks like its been slightly smoothed (compared to the other head i got), can it vary from head to head? or if it's done properly is it really obvious?

really annoys me the first time i got into modifiying engines and a supposed professional rips me off.

thanks for the help so far as well! i really have no clue when it comes to modifying ports on a head apart from the very very basics

in the third pic you posted it looks like its been smoothed a bit. there is a casting mark on the side of the port that looks like its been smoothed out etc. doesnt look like its been 'ported' though. although you wouldnt want top do that to a bigport anyway

It doesnt look like the same cast texture as standard. I reakon it been smoothed out. But definately not ported. Just got rid of the casting marks and other imperfections etc.

considering you are talking about getting the police involved I suggest you take it into another specalist and get their opinion rather than just go on what people can say with the photos on here (no offence to anyone here at all - but what sounds better to the police?-if they actually do anything)

thats what I was thinking really, but any legal action would need a testimonial of some from from a professional rather than a 'car forum' lol
