Tyre opinion's

Yes i've searched, but can only find one opinion on Federal & that wasn't specific on model.

I'm looking at getting new tyres for the front, at present i have Bridgestone MY-01's not really happy with their grip levels in the wet, but they do seem to wear well.
I'm looking at replacing them with either:
Maxxis MA-Z4S Victra's
or
Federal SS535
or Federal SS595

All will be in a 195/50/15 size & its for an ae101 fxgt.

Just after peoples opinions on these tires, especially if you've driven them.
All seem to get ok, if not somewhat contradictory ratings by most of what i've read online.

My driving style isn't particularly gentle & i'm after something that can do the odd trackday, & has good wet & dry handling, noise doesnt worry me too much (unless they sound like a 747) & looking for about 2 years/20-30,000ks out of them

just have a couple of better (in my oppion) idears in mind depending on price

Roughly 190 per tyre is the max i kinda want to pay

first rule of tyres is always get the best you can
best is not usually some weird brand no ones heard of... ie maxxis, who the fark are they?

federals..... not really a performance tyre!

look for dunlop direzzas or FM901S if they do them in that size
ppl also seem to rave about goodyear gds3 (if i got that right) but personally iv never driven on them.

oh ok i thort the Federal SS595`s were arround $260 ish a tyre well in that case iv had Federal SS595`s on my AW11 in the rear`s when i bought it & i found them great for grip in the dry it would hardley ever spin evan if i tryed but in the wet they were shit they would spin far to easley & were more a dry tyre than a all round & in dunedin well... were was good tho about 35,000k according to when the old owner put them on

GSD3s And yup, they are really good for their price. Good in the wet and dry.

Has no one heard of Maxxis? Get some of the ZR9s

The 535s aren't a bad tyre but are hardly performance. Not too flash in the wet, and not really much tread on the outer edge of the tyre so you might find yourself getting them failed on warrant with 4 or 5mm still in the middle of the tyre. Not sure if the 595s are so bad, supposed to be a much stickier tyre. For the money you're wanting to spend you should be able to get something pretty good in that size if you know someone, GSD3s I would have thought would fit your price range and be the pick of the bunch

I used to race mountian bikes competitively, the maxxis were the best tyres around for grip in the mud & ice/snow & pretty good in the dry too.
Thought they're goodness might of made it through to the car tyre market. Apparently they're 4wd tyres are pretty good at getting you out of sticky situations. But perhaps it might be a case of not comparing like with like

direzzas or even better GSD3's you should be able to pick BOTH of those up for under $200 a tire.

With a decent susp setup, GSD3's are freaking awesome, spec for the price.

Easy, paid 190 for 235/40/17s. so for 15s should be under 150.

Federal SS595s were very average on my levin, if you can get em for under 200 goodyear eagle F1s are the shiz as said above.

the longer a tyre last typcially the less grip you'll have as its a harder compound tyre.
