AE101 4GZE timing cover marks

Postby tHE _mEXICAN » Mon May 14, 2007 11:48 pm

on my motor it has the pin at TDC and it also has the guage (5,0,5,10 etc)reading on it. I'm not to sure as to where i'm meant to set the timing to as i have both pin and marks on my timing cover plate

Can another ae101 4agze owner please tell me what marks i should time it to?

Just want to check that i've timed it at the right place.

Thanks

yea i think i got you confused. 10 @tdc is correct for gze as i've already foung that out what i am asking is do i time it 10 at the pin or at the marks? I have both pin and numbers so i'm confused as to which to use.'

Thanks anyway

you may have to do a TDC check.

Pull out number one plug and put a long 3/8 drive extension down the hole.

turn the engine over by hand ( with a socket on the crankshaft making sure the ign is off )
and find where the extension is at it's highest point TDC and see which marks line up.

If you have both I'd guess that the marks on the cover will be right.
