Its not the best to have guys who are racing and guys who are trying to drift on the track at the same time, recipe for a bit of carnage.
I guess if drifters were in a group of their own then it could work, but I am not sure if the Taupo track people would allow it anyway.

nope, the reason is because it
a) messes up their grass when goons fall off the track.
b) it makes a mess on the track where said goon comes back onto the track.

look at pukekohe's esses and onto the back straight when the drifties have been there, has a resemblence to a pig sty or mucky cow paddock

Nope, the reason is actually they don't allow both styles of driving in one event anymore.

:)

PS: if you went and looked at the link in the first post you'd see the reason

Does anyone have somewhere (or know somewhere) secure were I can park a tralier with my race car on it for the weekend?

I plan on coming over on the saturday for a long weekend in Taupo, and need to leave the tralier somewhere with the car on it while I'm doing the tourist thing :)

So it can be rented for drifting if that's what someone wanted? Not worried about cost, but it can be done?

Dragger_Dan: yes you can hire the track for drift events however you must be accepted and have a huge plan in place for 'grouds recovery' as the track management are pretty strict about keeping things tidy.

Contact Jacky Hanning at Taupo and she'll let ya know the deal :D

Providing I don't have to work on the Monday I'd be keen to come down and snap a few photos at the event. Anybody from Hamilton got a spare seat?

Fantastic!! I need some helpers as I can't hire marshals because they don't have any one free for that weekend.
