the VZFE family of engines have the same bolt pattern as the 3S etc so if you used one of them a W5* box with bell housing wouldn't be hard to come by. unfortunitly none of the VZFE v6 engine seem to be all that great

Mitsubishi make some 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre V6s, I believe that redmist is the man to talk to regarding those. :)

Nothing from the Toyota stable springs to mind, that isnt fairly crap.

There's a 2.5 litre V6, but it's not very good.

If I was going to put a V6 in anything, it would probably be either a honda VTEC 3.0 V6 or the mitsi MIVEC 3.0 V6.

mitsi had a few small v6 engines 2.0 and 1.6L , i think mazda made a 2L v6 too, meant to be a potential screamer

There is a 2l nissan v6...its a vg something I think...2 litre version of the 300ZX motor

Wouldnt it be better to choose a motor based on what works the best for your application rather than cause its a 2l v6...theres a reason most people do similar engine swaps, thats cause theyre the best things to use

those little mazda v6's go great for what they are. The toyota 3/4vz-fe's aren't bad especially if they bolt up to a S bellhousing, they have shit cam cover gaskets IIRC, and many of them end up leaking themselves into serious trouble - im sure you wouldnt have any problems with one if it was maintained well.

On second thought, give it a 1g-gte - good little 2L dohca straight 6 TT. Probably better than any of the other engines mentioned.

I'd suggest either of the 2l or 2.5l v6 mazda engines, all are pretty cheap & seem fairly good from what i've heard & read.
We've been looking at one for putting in my partners brothers mazda ute. Seem to be fairly popular in the US, since the rotarys arent as cheap or plentiful over there.

Power potential seems really good, there was even a factory turbo one if i remember rightly.

well.

things you need to condsider:

gearbox, how will you make that work? prob by using a mazda box, need to find if the engine fits a rwd box

wiring, can you do it?

exhaust, will need to be custom

if those arnt a problem, your next step is to get busy with a tape measure

my luce has one of the older sohc mazda 2l v6 engines. they're real wide engines.... 90 degree v6 iirc.
not too long though.... but its hard to tell, it takes up the whole luce engine bay, and anyone thats been near a luce will know just how $&#$% big they are.... 4 and a half meters long.

The quadcam ones are the ones that make the real power. mines only sohc per bank, so its not a powerhouse, but still goes very well.

bellhousings are a problem, as rwd manual v6 mazdas are hard to come by at the best of times. manual ones are out there, like mine. could probably make an adapter plate or something. RX7 boxes work well with them apparently.

Owned a 2.5L V6 Mazda MS-8 - went bloody well for what it was, never gave any troubles and should run forever. The autos don't like being unserviced though.

Good thing about MS8s is they are plentiful on TM - starting for under a grand.

the mazda K8, KF & KL V6's from the lanits, Eunos 500/800, GE 626/telstar etc etc can go pretty hard, think back to the telstars in the NZ touring cars, and the ones that used to do Targa, they have a factory forged crank and in the US guys have made some pretty serious pony's outta them

The Mitsi 6a10 is the 1600cc V6. Its got fantastic geometry, but flows like shyte through a straw. Its a very good little 1600, but not good to use as a base for a NA racer.
The 6a12 is the 2ltr MIVEC and is a reasonably good engine. Its pretty heavy though. Big cast block with a tonne of heavy metal brackets bolted to it.
The nissan V6 is the VG series. The VG20E, VG20ET and VG20DET. THe last being a single turbo DOHC turbo engine producing 210hp.

A V6 might sound a good option. But you're dramatically increasing fricional losses by having two additional pistons. If you're after outright power you'll find a 3SGTE or other 2ltr turbo considerably easier to get power from.
