replacing engine

i have a 1988 fxzi how hard will it be to put a 4age/4agze in there will the mounts be the same for the engine gearbox or do i require custom mounts ?

its manual i think it has the 15oocc sohc i can do the engine swap myself just need to know if i need custom mounts

Have a look on the chassis plate, does it say 3A or 4A next to "engine"? I would have thought the FXZi came with a 4A, in which case you can use the factory mounts, as well as the factory gearbox for a 4AGE, however I think the GZE has a thicker flywheel that fouls on the bellhousing.

yeah im pretty sure its the 4a so 4age is straight swap i just need new gb of 4agze? what would be better in the carolla you reackon ? as in fun/driveable on the street
