question about mechanic wrecking bead on tyre

hi

few days ago i got a place to put some eagers onto my superlites. i got them back all good, pumped up and stuff. they stayed pumped up for about 3 days but then went down. so pumped it up and it went down again. thought a puncture so took it in to get fixed at tonys tyre service and they said the bead was $&#$%. (tonys didn't put the tyre on)

when i bought it, i'm pretty sure the bead was fine (no huge rips, cracks, whatever) so it was definitly the people who put the tyre on who wrecked it?

if the bead was broken before they put the tyre on, they should of told me and not put the type on right?

just wanting to know before i take it back and demand theytry fix it with bead sealer or give me $ to replace it

Damn right, take it back and get them to fix their own mistakes.

They should have lubed up the bead properly before fitting the tyre, then it wouldn't have ripped it.

I got a free brand new tyre when a tyre shop ripped the bead on one of mine, they just went ahead and did it for me no problems
Don't see how anything but the last person who fitted your tyre could have ripped it.

you can always chuck a tube at it, bead sealer is messy sh1t and may not do the job if its too bad

definately demand your money back or a replacement.. first of all it is your right to get PROFESSIONAL service and if they dont stand up to that then that is simply bad buisness conduct to me!!!

it is not your fault in any way, replacement is the only way here,

i noticed on one of the tyre when i got it back there was a bit of bead sealer all round it, and i asked how long they were gonna take after they had done one and the dude said 5 mins, so i waited around for like half an hour before i finally got the tyre. i kept looking over, looked like try tried putting it on a couple of times so that makes me more suspicious

i dunno how they can replace it though, since eagers aren't made anymore, it's got 7 mm of tread so it's pretty much brand new so maybe i'll just ask for some money

yea spend some money on some yoko a038 they are the eager replacement and much better performer,
thats what you can do ask for another tyre of same or better, of the one they fu*ked,

its illegal for them to sell or put on a road going tyre that they know has flaws in it, they can get fined (or jail time) if you had a crash and it was found a faulty tyre was the problem.

to add a story of my own, last year i got a full set of second hand yoko's was told they where mint by the shop, a few months later we wanted go on a road trip to queenstown, was thinking of using my car to drive all of us there, so started to load the car and my mate said my cars too small, so we used my girls car instead, we come back from our trip to find my back tyre fully flat and some sticky sh!t oozing out the side, took it to to garage down the road(not the shop i got them from) and the guy said its had a side wall puncher and been repaired(badly). took it back to the shop to demand WTF, he knew what was up when i saw me, so got free tyre, and never went back to that place,

always check the inside of second had tires for damage before you buy.

It was possibly someone inexperienced that fitted your tyres. You can easily rip tyre beads if the tyre isn't pressed down in the rim enough also lack up tyre lube will also cause it as stated above. Some rims are designed to have the tyres fitted upside down also in which they may not have done.

mostly inexperience causes ripping of the tyre, they need heaps of lube especially when fitting such a wide tyre to a wide rim 215/60/13 to a 7 inch rim it puts quite a stretch on them, It's just plain unprofessional when you have a bead that gets ripped from a supposed professional place but just takes care and caution

well i guess all eagers are relatively old since they're not made anymore. but they have a lot of tread so i guessing not that old, they didn't have any cracks or whatever

thats odd.. i thought it was illegal to repair sidewall punctures. theres no gaurantee atall and the chance of the seal rupturing is very high due to the constant movement of the sidewall.

but yeh sounds like a case of not enough lube, inexperience and shitty old tyres. but yeh like mentioned, if the tyres still have that much tread id get them to throw in a tube (for free of course) and/or get a new tyre.

did u supply the tyre? unfortunately alot of workshops will not gaurantee parts fitted that are supplied. but in that case, if the tyre was damaged before fitting then he definately should have told u before hand.

^^yea it is totally illegal and he still sold it to me knowing it had been repaired, he put it on the car so the repair was on the side facing into the car not on the outside where i could of seen it!!

i made the mistake of not check every tyre before he fitted them and put them on my car, because i didn't think he was going to be that dodgey i only looked at the tread was good,
