The gears themselves are narrower than in the C52/C56 gearboxes, which themselves were considered by Toyota too weak to be hooked up to the 4AGZE... oh, and the 6 speeds have an apetite for eating crownwheels and pinions

If your heart is set on getting it though remember you'll need a new gear shift mechanism as the one for the 5 speed doesn't move far enough across the gate to select gears in the extra plane in the 6 speed.
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

I managed to destroy pinion and crown wheel with my silvertop. BTW gear change mechanism can be modified to work with 6spd (minor modifications). Anyway AE101 have better gear shift mechanism (made out metal, unlike AE111 plastic). Don't bother, with GZE there is no need for 6spd. 6spd is so not worth the money.

Have this Toyota race car driver come into work regulary. Hes built a cople of AE82 FXGTs with blacktops in them. Still chooses to use the 5 speed boxes with aftermarket LSD diffs in them for there strenghts over the 6 speeds. So I guess thats saying something.

TRD LSD brand new from any toyota dealer is around $1200 + gst, maybe less. mechanical LSD unit. http://trdparts.jp/english/parts_lsd_mechanical.html. Good value for money.

edit: sorry should be noted its for C52, supercharger lsd have been discontinued however you may have luck fitting a curren, celica or mr2 diff. Or use an entire celica/turbo mr2 gearbox then equip the trd lsd.

people want stupid money for ae101 lsd boxes now. they arent even that good, just the weak viscous ones.

i had an e51 with an aftermarket mechanical lsd (probly the discontinued trd unit), and i sold it with the gearbox for $900 in less than 12 hours on trademe. there is no cheap solution now, although you can still buy quaife units and i think cusco might do one too.
