Door problem

Postby Cicak » Sun May 27, 2007 10:29 pm

Was opening my door last night, when there was a 'pop' and it didn't open. After a moment of panic. I realised that the door handle wasn't opening the door.

Took off the door panel, and realised the metal rod connecting handle to lock/opening mechanism isn't connected to the handle anymore. It still opens from the inside, and locks fine.

So, the problem is, the door won't open from the outside, only from the inside, and everything is fine. I THINK the clip that connects the rod to the handle broke. But, I was wondering if this has happened to anyone before, and what to do about it now. This isn't common is it?

Easiest thing would be to take off the door panel of the other door, and have a look and compares the metal rods, see what's missing on the one that is not working.

You're probably right, the clip will have broken. I don't know if I'd call it common, but it sure as hell isn't rare.

What to do?? Buy a new clip, and replace it :)

Oh, and it might not be a good idea to wind down your window

It'll look a little something like this

THANKS! was wondering what it'd look like lol, so far all i've been able to put up there are my fingers. But i can't seem to see it, cos it's stuck under metal, and behind the window.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

At least this keeps the thieves at bay. Even i can't open it
