ive got a 96 rolla wagon with an airbag steering wheel and ive got a momo steering wheel that id prefer to have on there, am i able to change it.

do i need to have it for W.O.F?

Best way is go speak to your nearest VIN station before you go ahead, if you do fit it you will need a boss kit to suit your car.

No you cant just change it,

Yes you need it for a WOF.

You can get it certed without the airbag if there is a reason,
but becasue I want to is not a good enough reason.

You can take all your airbag wiring, stickers etc out of the car, and stick an aftermarket wheel on, but even then you still need to get it certified.

A lot of $&#$% around just for a different steering wheel.

Yeah all depends which track you want to travel.

Removal is illegal,

However on a single airbag car, I'm not sure theres any stickers / lights etc.

Its there for a reason tho man, to stop you cracking ya mug

I'm pretty sure removal isnt illegal, but not having one there without legislation supporting it (i.e. cert.) is.

Yep. You can get aftermarket TRD Air bag wheels from toyota. Look a bit GAY though.

the land transport rule: frontal impact 2001 states "a frontal impact airbag and it's operating system must remain operational if the vehicle was originally manufactured with a frontal impact airbag", meaning a steering wheel with an airbag must stay there. The only way round it is with lvv cert and like previous forum trolls have stated you will need to have a better reason than i wanted to change it. Also it is there for SAFETY, so who cares if it looks ghey, it may just save your life....

From what I believe the only way you can get certed to have no airbag,

is if you have modified the way the safety systems in the car will work in an accident
or to modify the crumple zones so the car will not behave as intended by the manufacturer in an accident. .

The only real way to do that is to either get an approved rollcage,
or get a motorsport authority card for full harness belts.

So... what cars that are 14 years old have air bags... :roll:

And did you read what you have to do in order to not have one? You have to change the belts, have it removed by some one qualified enough for LVVTA, lable it all and do all the paper work.

Waste of time and effort, not to mention incredible cost.

Full welded in rollcage running through to either the front strut towers or firewall/bulkhead, also FIA seats both sides are minimum for airbag removal on MotorSport Authority Card.

its stated in the ad that theres a pasengers airbag so there must of been a drivers one

ive been talking to my cert guy hes going to put it thru because i want to use it on a track ;-)

finaly get a smaller wheel so my legs dont hit it lol

What he has done is illegal, as he has no certification for his doing

Reason he gets away with it is because the WOF tester is a incompetent dipsh!t and didn't spot what he had done.

Do it if you wish .. but you may get a WOF tester who will catch you out.
