silvertop temp issue! & idle

Postby EVL20V » Mon May 28, 2007 10:47 pm

silvertop ae101

removed a/c,

cold morning idle has now decided it will be 2000rpm, and once warm 1500rpm. when at normal operating temp (halfway up gauge) you floor it and the temperature starts dropping fast  could be a good thing? but really, any ideas? thermostat?

cheers

also the ign. timing may need attention and also TPS?

check your throttle cable and where it sits when pedal has no pressure on it.

Also check and adjust timing if needed.

I would give coolant good flush and new thermostat (maybe go genuine as some 3rd party ones can be dodgy)

No, it will be something to do with the idle up system for the air con.

Heh, good luck finding it if you cut up the loom. Do the fans run all the time? I think you have to jump a set of pins or something.

Yes it can. If the engine temp is way down (due to thermostat always open) it will idle higher. It looks like you are either missing thermostat or it is jammed wide open. Higher the revs lower the temperature symptom suggests that you have thermostat problem.

Are the fans always running since you took AC out?

the fact that fan is running all the time or there is -20'C outside should not affect the temperature of fully warmed up engine if the thermostat is working.

This is true. Not impossible but weird if it is the thermostat as soon as he removed the AC. Possibly its just showing up more now the AC core has been removed i guess.

My aircon is removed and fan runs all the time..
What is the normal temp a silvertop should run at on the temp gauge??
Cause mine ALWAYS runs just above the cold mark. not even 1/4 the way up.. even after driving all day.
New thormostat??

It should be running at half. Use more fuel if its running cold all the time.

You both have removed AC and both have issues with the temp. Why do you think thermostat?? Look for the most obvious answers first, which would be AC related don't you think??
