1KZ-TE to 1KD-TE

I've got a 2004 Prado with a blown turbo.
What would I need and how much would it cost me to upgrade it to 1KD-TE spec?

finding a 1kd will be $$$$

you will need the entire fuel system.
from the tank to the engine.


it can be done, but it would be a rather $$ exercise i think.

Why don't you replace turbo - will be much cheaper.

as far as i know you cant just upgrade the 1kz to 1kd ...

the whole fueling Ecu turbo systems are compltey different..

1KZ-TE has the older type VE pumps and injectors, standard CT12B turbo.

where as the 1KDFTV is a common rail very very high presure fuel system... turbo is a electronicaly controled VNT turbo..

so you cant just upgrade the bolt on's ... yes they are both 3lt. but completely different.

oooh yeah thats right mutilplex wiring....
fun fun....

fix it, sell it, buy a new one :D

to do it properly youd need a complete wrecked one, but if its wrecked, chances are bits you need will be buggered, and itll still be a $$$ wreck
