Any motor making in excess of 150HP per litre needs rebuilding on a regular basis. That sort of power output isn't conducive to longevity.

very true....
dunno about honda ones not needing rebuilding as much though
use them the same and youll prob be rebuilding them both jsut as much
btw the atlantic motors didnt NEED rebuilding as much as a lot of ppl think....
its just in a $$$ high profile class, if you have the $$ you do it just in case....
anyway, i want to clarify here:
1600= b16 and b20
1800 = b18
2000= ?
and iv missed?

Of the ones that tend to get modded:
1600 = ZC/D16A/B16A/B16B (B20 is just plonkers going off topic - its a two litre. The 200whp one I referred to maintained 1600cc iirc)
1800 = B18C/B18CR/B16B
2000 = F20B/F20C/B20B/K20A

That would be me, 125kw ATW with a vaccuum leak, and incorrect AFM readings due to my bodge intake, over 15:1 AFR

all the other usuall stuff, acid dip race bearings etc etc.
thats pretty much wat my 16v has so it wouldbe good to see what power you make. But what compression has yours got

Aren't they in the latest Elise/Exige as well?
ISTR a Lotus guy at a trackday mentioning that they had a mixture of the rover K Series, the 1800 from the Celica/Corolla GT , and the Honda k20?

the exige s has the 1.8 from celica but supercharged. The normal elise uses the 1.8

That would be either the 1zzfe or the 2zzge.
In the lotus, they come in both NA and supercharged guise, on both engine options.
Both are 1.8L, different bore/stroke(1zz longer stroke, torque is a few 1000 RPM lower than 2zz).
The 1zz is vvt-i the 2zz is vvtl-i
Both designed by Yamaha.

ok ok, well If you want to compere 1800cc then I raced a Integra in my '01 celica and my car had so much more pull than his it wasn't funny, got up to around 190kmh (I mean 100km/h for all you cops out there
) and then a corner came up quick.
my celica has 180bhp and no mods at all on it. It also has lether trim in it. haha.
My mate is pritty hard out into his honda's and he was in my car when we went to Whangamata one day. and through the hills he was pritty quiet! (I I have be racing for 13-14 years tho, my bad)
and they guy that brought up the highly over rated Altezers, a good 16v could have it.the only good thing about that car is that it has a nice butt on it!
Hondas are completly different than 'us'. completly differnet power and I dont no about u but i feel like i'm in a tin can when im in a honda. it's just to light!
btw my mate has draged his GF's car (black top 5 speed) and was doing 14.7.
also I have to say this but if we are talking small motors then I have seen a 1500 (or maby 1600cc) V12 Formula one motor. well over 1000hp. but those motors blew up on the start line soooo meany times!
but you cant compare anything to F1 anyway! Coz I dont think anyone has the money they do!
There is also a guy in my old team with a Daihatsu mira. t4 turbo, 4wd, traction control, launch control and the shell is made from carborn fiber! 0 - 100 kmh in 2.5 seconds! btw its only 3-cylinder 989 cc DOHC 12-valve!
Just finished putting my sliver top in my ae92 corolla fxgt. and yes the 20v is better. worth all the #$% words! It has just a constant pull back in the seat!
well I no that someone will say something after this about something. It's my own compinion!
(sorry about the spelling, I race, I dont spell!)
