SIF

The rant is well placed, Cycling should be encouraged... they are hardly a resource-hog when it comes to the roads...

as long as they dont leave their brains at home.
i toot like $&#$% at cyclists who travel in packs 4 abreast and overhang onto the 100km/h highway. wankers should just ride 2 abreast so they stay over the shoulder. when you are coming up at 100km you should not have to swerve becoz some wanker cant ride in a straight line.

I was biking to work in the summer. I stuck to the foot paths. I made way for people on the foot paths and tried to stay off the roads where I could.

I see things from all places.

I get pissed off with cyclists who are all over the road or getting in the way purely from lack of consideration.

I get pissed off with drivers who toot at cyclist or drive stupidly close to cyclists who are trying to be considerate and keep as far left as possible.

Personally, I think cyclists are best on the foot path.

In an accident:
Person + cyclist > cyclist + car

Not only that but theres a greater amount of cars passing along a stretch of road than there are people on the parallel stretch of footpath.
That is, of course, if you're not talking about city streets.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Which is fine until someone pulls out of a driveway and you clobber them because you can't stop in time? Or they clobber you?

Motorists are not looking for someone moving at bicycle speed on a footpath. Thats because its a footpath.. not a wheelpath!!!

Cyclists should be on the road - they should be considerate, and at the same time, so should motorists. Ive ridden on the road all my life (from when I was 8 years old) and never had a significant issue except where motorists do not take reasonable care.

PS: Jazza. viewtopic.php?p=555710 . Again.

I bike to work now also.

It doesn't take as long to get home from work in the evening, no having to pay for parking and I keep the kms travelled in my car to a minimum.

Although it is starting to get a little cooler down here now.

Whats pisses me off is when cars drive along when it clearly states that its a cycle lane - move the $&#$% over!!!

A down side to it is Buses stink!

Busses annoy me the most, i know of many bus drivers who on the otago peninsula road actually try to hit cyclists (this is a narrow road at the best of times). & yes you can be ticketed on a bike, i got pinged for doing 71 in a 50k zone ( i was 17 & proud of that ticket).

Now i'm mostly a car driver i readily leave room or slow down for cyclists, & yes those who ride in packs with no respect for others are wankers (should be shot), but do give them a minute to move to single file.

Horses use the road dont pay road user charges or ACC do we complain about them? and they're far more unpredictable than cyclists. Oh & for all of u who want to hoot at cyclists, please try this with horses. Ill gladly look out for your names in the court news for manslaughter!

Car drivers are just jelous of the torque cyclists get off the line, look at that acceleration!

Horses generally stick to the grass (unless there is no option) as the road surface is hell on their hooves
