flywheel + clutch question

Postby LEV_101 » Thu Jun 14, 2007 12:49 pm

i have a altezza with 3sge motor. im planning to get a lighter flywheel about 6 kg. factory is about 15kg iirc. my motor does about 200hp not going to turbo or supercharge it. so is there any next of me getting a heavy duty clutch / race clutch / and so on.

can i just use my toyota clutch with it ? good or bad idea ?

or any opintions which you can give me

thanks !

im pretty sure altezzas use the shithouse "dual mass" where the bit the clutch plate clamps too can spin "X" ammount to dampen the jolt of the clutch. these cant be machined. so id say get a solid replacement or get one made so the same spec but lighter shouldnt be too much. as for clutch a standard one should be ok but it comes down to how hard do you drive it,in my opinion if its all comin out, do it once do it right get like a 6 puck or a heavy duty! :D

no a standard one wont work

a normal clutch plate has a sprung centre. dual mass type dont, as mentioned above the flywheel dampens the egagement.
so when you fit a light solid flywheel, you need to replace the the clucth with a sprung centre type.

We did one at work a few days ago, put in a new TRD fly wheel, pressure plate, and clutch plate.

You wouldn't want to know the price though.... 8O

I must say, it looked very nice indeed, but you can't see all that once it's it :P
