ok, I read vvt 20v thread on toyomods too, thanks.
we've had a 10.9sec 1.6L ae86; bigport, ecu, cams, pistons, t3/t4.
It could only get better if it were a 1.8L, I'd imagine.
Similarly, I'm convinced a street ae/ca18 could go 10s, but again doubtfull without cam$$. There is a 11.0sec ca18 powered street kp61 around that will hit 10s without cams on stock innards, seeing as he's only @16psi on a t3/t4. Surely the lighter hull makes that possible.
I'm considering pushing a gze piston/stock 7A rod 16V to the limit.
I'll persue reasonably priced 16V cams ~260° that actually work as good as the JDM brands (u.s. 2L mitsu community persistence paid off as they came up with "drop-in" cams that outperformed the HKS benchmark at ~60% of the price... maybe oz/nz has had equal success ?)
Plan is to keep revs (& costs) down, while I sneak the boost up.
A blacktop 20V certainly seems like a wiser route than a 16V with cams when you do the math.
I don't feel a 7agte 16V running oe cams would top 400hp under the same conditions - t3/t4 @27psi.
Wonder how a 20V silvertop 7agte would fare, same conditions ?
How much usd$ were pistons & rods for the 20Vbt 7agte monster ?
"27psi on 98 pump gas" is a remarkable achievemnet. Was that with water/alky injection ?
