Anyone wanting heavy duty wire

Postby Stealer Of Souls » Tue Jun 26, 2007 10:28 am

Hi all.

I have the opportunity to buy some heavy wire at a reasonably low price.

35mm^2 $13/m. Normally from $30-$40.
50mm^2 $17/m. Normally from $40-$60

I can't guarantee any length as it's a once off "run-out" offer through a friend. But I can probably get a reasonable length.
The normal prices I've stated are trade to retail, but normally people in the field can get them cheaper than trade (and does anyone ever pay retail?)

If anyone is interested, I need to know by the end of the week (10am Friday 29th June) so I can place the order.

Is it copper? Flexible, multi-stranded cable?

where from i can get 35mm welding wire for slightly less than your prices but the 50mm i think was a buck more per meter. Would need to confirm.

35mm was 10.50 and 50 was 18..

Okay. What I can say for sure.

Copper, double insulated (PVC/PVC, or possibly XLPE/PVC), flexible multi-stranded.

I've left the data sheets at work. I will look at the details again tomorrow.

Okay so I was half right...

The two cables that I originally posted about...
One core, circular
Annealed copper
PVC, V-90
Max op temp 90degC
AS/NZS1995:2003 compliant

35mm
19x58x.20
.42kg/m
.54mohm/m
Min bend radius 75mm
Approx 228A for 5 min
Overall OD 12.4mm

50mm
27x58x.20
.58kg/m
.38mohm/m
Min bend radius 90mm
Approx 289A for 5 min
Overall OD 14.9mm

I was also given an option on some 16mm.
One core, circular
Annealed copper
EPR, type R-EP-90 insulator with vinyl-nitrile rubber, type 5V-90 sheath.
Max op temp 90degC
AS/NZS 5000.1:1999 compliant
7x28x.32
.25kg/m
1.21mohm/m
Min bend radius 65mm
Approx 139A for 5 min
Overall OD 10.6mm
This would be around $6/m

Okay. I understand that these prices aren't necessarily the best around, I know that a lot of people can get prices like these most of the time. But for those who can't, I'm offering to get a bulk order sorted if theres the interest.
