lets all go round worshipping values and beliefs of one man (bush) who is just as bad, if not worse than the people he's trying to topple!!

No...hes worse. You know america actually caused all this BS in the first place right?
Anyhow....back to 20 I say. We used to get piss when we were like 16 back when the law was 20, so imagine how many young people are getting pissed now. It was a stupid argument to lower it in the first place. "Oh young people are getting drunk, lets make it legal for them" WTF?!?!...how bout "Oh people are getting murdered, lets just make it legal for them" Stoopid Stoopid Stoopid

i find it HIGHLY HIGHLY ironic that the government lowers the drinking age, then slaps a tax on SHERRY? SHERRY FOR GODS SAKE? WHO THE $&#$% DRINKS SHERRY?

$&#$%!

I dont even know what sherry tastes like :? And I doubt im missing out either.

Young peopels drink beer (piesy  ) and lolly water some wine as well, yet they dont tax beer or lolly water why? WHY?

Its like giving candy to a baby, then saying, oh you have to pay me $5 to eat it.

Im so confused

Ok well here is wot i think......age is but a number why go by age?? if they are so concerned then why shouldnt there be a test or something to determine whether u are capable of being somewhat responsible to go out and drink? I mean they test us for driving coz of the danger involved with driving why dont they test us to see if we are mature at the time to be allowed to enter clubs and shit i mean drinking is dangerous i mean shit i could get hit by a bus 2moro whilst i was incredibly drunk etc.

What i am trying to say is why put the age up when mentality is the biggest issue in the drinking age problem its not wether u are old enough its wether u are mature enough to be able to go to a club and order a few drinks get smashed as still have a good time without causing fights etc!!!

Thats just my 2 cents!!

And if they do want to put the age up i say 21 aswell like in the states!!!

i saw this quite large samoan chick lyeing on the middle of the footpath, smelling hardout strong of alcohol, she was absoutly smashed off her face and had fallen and comad on the ground. she looked only about 15. It was absoutly DISCUSTING!!!!! she had thrown all her clothes off and everything.... man it was not a pretty sight :S

I think the drinking age should be raised again. But there are always going to be ways of young people being able to get ahold of alcohol. so yeah... i dunno

Responsible teenagers? LMAO
I know 25yo's who still arent fully responsible. Going by that logic youd have to raise the limt to 28 or something.

I mean they test us for driving coz of the danger involved with driving why dont they test us to see if we are mature at the time to be allowed to enter clubs

Passing a driving test dosent mean you can drive, just means you know the rules. Experience is the only thing that counts.
This is essentially the problem.
Unlike driving, there is not enough policing of drinking, as you can drink anywhere. Its a lot harder to get away with bad driving, than it is to get away with "bad drinking". And of course inexperienced drinkers get hammered fast and do stupid stuff that alerts people to the problem.
Actually a learner drinkers card might be a go. A pub could ask you for your lience, and if you were on a learners they could only sell you 1 beer :). Which is heaps for teens :P
I think keep it at 18.. tho im just saying that coz im just turning 19 8O Its not like id have much of a problem if it was raised to 20 tho, coz im close enough and the bf is 20 :D, but it would still pose a problem for clubbing/pubs, but its not like i go out much anyway haha

Still, the fact remains that a lot of 14-17 year olds get alcohol given to them by their parents :? which is kind of disturbing, parents are busy complaining about the youth of today and yet they support their kids drinking habits...
I totally agree with you girl.....But yeah im almost 19 and im a responsible drinker, its the other idiots out there that ruin it for us..... wait until im 21 then put it back up :D

Thats actually another good point but not practical really...

Experience is the key you say?

so the 16 year olds that all go out and get wrecked will probably get wise by the time they're 20 and will drink responsibly - whereas if the age is taken back up to 20 you'll have 23 year olds causing trouble...

is this government trying to weed out all the dumbasses by getting them pissed and letting them kill eachother?

I agree with carly - i'm confused as a mofo - it's times like this you just want a politition to come on here and explain it to us... (there's a dare for you)

Jools i wasnt saying that pple should be mature its more like a test to let pple no the rules and what happens like driving we know the consequences so we prove we can handle it!!! It should kinda be like that with drinking and i know that some people are mature till they are like about 28ish but some other people are mature at 18 aswell!! If they are so concerned about it then maybe they should use their brains and do something decent about it!!!!! Damn government!!!

Unfortunately age doesn't mean much!! It's the mentality and up-bringing that determines your responsiblity with alcohol/drugs etc.

Something's wrong with the way kids are being brought up these days, as mentioned in one of B1NZ's earlier posts, they just have no respect!!! It's only been a few years since I was a teenager, but the difference in teens now is unbelievable!!! I would never have even thought about acting the way some of them do!! CRAZEEEEE!!
