W5* Electronic speedo sensors

Postby matt dunn » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:23 am

Is there a model of W5* gearbox that has an electronic speedo sensor?

What vehicle is it out of and does anyone have one for sale?

there is because i have one, the Z20 soarer uses it for digital dash, you can also use the sender out of the auto box in the manual

I needed a manual speedo drive for my altezza gearbox, and a W5* one fits.

Point being that while I was looking for one, I found out that the auto boxes from cressidas etc (same cars that have W5* boxes) have the same speedo drive. So if you could find one from an auto, it would more than likely fit too.
(I cant say for 100% sure, as I just ended up getting one from a W series box, but apparently others have used auto ones)

so, to clarify further, the speed sender/sensor whatever you want to call it from the A340E auto is interchangeable with the W5x manual.

you can get it from g/mz20 soarer, digital dash xa70 supras (i assume?), jzx90 and probably more, basically anything that uses those boxes and doesn't have cable driven speedo.

A lot of Digi dash cars actually have cables that run all the way to a speed sensor inside the actual dash itself to run the digi display. seems like a weird way but is quite common, especially on hondas.

Will see what I can find as I want to run a speed signal into the LinkG3 on my new setup.
