to be honest.... i dont think its needed.....
and im not so sure they are needed. heaps of entertaing cheap classes around...

also, has anyone else noticed the trend....
tier 1 classes move more towards 1/2 make classes..... and suddenly all the things like super gt, super sedans, osca, ss2000 has a big jump in popularity?

Doesn't interest me a bit, the Aussie series looks like a destruction derby and while this appeals to some people it bores the hell outa me. The classes Revhead mentioned are far more interesting. It's a pitty they have to stoop to attracting the white trash crowd, they always ruin events where NZV8's are running. Holden and Ford racing is boring, maybe with the exception of Super 6.

i think its a kinda good idea, i mean all of us secretly like it when theres a bit of argy bargy on the race track. But yes unfortunately the white trash turn up.

Perhaps there could be a super ute class instead? ie any ute u want with any mods, as long as there safe, but with some sort of classes within classes along the lines of super gt. Toyota could run or sponsor a tacoma or hilux with really lowerd track suspension & perhaps the trd hilux engine in it. Way cool way of promoting the TRD Hilux & brand

I think it would make for some really insane race cars, i.e mid tray engines etc.

Personally i find 'normal' car racing kinda boring, i really like it when something a bit different races, like when i think it was volvo raced the station wagon in the btcc. & i remember like 5 years ago when i went to the motueka drags after new years & there was a crazy nos'd nissan nivara ute with i think a blown chevy of some sort in it. Different is cool!

Your right, different is cool,

But with an open rule class you start with a good varity of cars,

and thn some of them are really fast, and the others dont bother to turn up,

so you end up with a race of 3 guys seeing who spent the most money.

The class I run in opened up it's rules a while ago to allow over 2 litre turbo's as it used to be NA up to 5l and Turbo up to 1800.
Now the top couple of cars are almost as fast as a V8 supercar,
and there has been not one single NA car enter any of the 3 non turbo classes all year.

Although one or two make may seem boring, it keeps it more equal, and keep the competitior numbers up.

Is there any formula in motor racing that limits $$$$ spent that could be used in these sort of catagories, cause i agree the who has the biggest wallet game isnt that cool.

Drifting. You don't need $$ to do well, has been proven time and time again. Thats' why Katsuhiro Ueo never fails to impress me when he takes down 400-600hp Nissans in his little 200hp AE86! hahah. :) Too bad you don't get drifting or WRC on television much these days, as compared to formula 1, V8s etc.. such a shame.

I'd like to see them.
Watched them at their first round at manfield last year, even had beers with some of the drivers.
Good class to watch

drifting isnt motor racing.
WRC is on all the time.... just as much as F1, in fact even more.....

I dont like it at all I mean the NZV8s is a panelbeaters dream allready so I cant imagine what this is going to be like.
I miss the days of open class racing so much better to watch with almost every type of car you can think of on the track at once.

Yeah, I remember seeing footage of AE86s, R32 GTRs, FXGTs etc tearing around Bathurst, now THAT would have been cool to watch! :)

Yep!
It would be cool from a point of view if you liked that car, ie AE86s and GTRs, to wathc them..

But if your actually a racing fan, and prefer a good driver/team over a paerticular car, this day racing is best
