ae85 suggestions

Postby shihad » Sat Jul 07, 2007 7:59 pm

hey i just purchased an ae85 notchback trueno and i am thinking about taking it off the road and putting a new engine in. at the moment i am thinking about going 4age turbo or 3sgte. my target is 200- 250 horsepower which option would be better? its my understanding 4age will bolt straight up but of course will need a new gearbox diff etc... i have a limited budget but have no time limit lol.I like the idea of the 3sgte because it makes enough power unmodified but will it be too hard to fit?

how difficult will it be to fit a 3sgte?
which option would be cheaper 4age or 3s?
what is the best drive line?

you'll find alot of info on this subject in the tech questions forum, a quick search should reveal plenty of reading - but hey, you have no time limit ;)

If you're on a budget, dont bother with the 3SGTE. The best driveline for what?

If you're on a tight budget 200-250hp is gonna be a big ask.

Does it have to be turbo? I'd love to see a hard tuned 3sge :)

You should be sorted! Thats more than twice the budget i had for my 85 :P

TBH though, i would spend a bit getting the car ready to have that sort of power and leave the engine till the last. Get the rust, shocks and stoppers sorted before the engine or the next we'll hear from you is from hospital. :?
