I learned to drive in a 1980 Subaru Brumby. 1600cc, 4WD, some sideways fun was had in my paddocks. Sadly it needed too much to get it back on the road for what it was worth at the time (would definately get it on the road now though) and sold it to a farmer for $800 :(.

Then I got a 1988 Corona with a mighty 3sfe. Gave it endless death and it just took it, took many a trip well past the redline. Great car, it hardly cost me a cent in the years I had it. Sold it for $300 to my mate after I accidentally smashed in the door. He still has it.

Then came the mighty 1987 AW11 which I bought as a toy. Great fun wee car, took me ages to decide on it after considering an S13 and various other RWD cars.

After the warrant expired on my smacked up Corona I decided I needed a new car and guess what came up that very day on tardme? Another Corona. Only this one was an 86 coupé with a 3sge. It's a great car, uses bugger all gas and is a lot faster than my old one.

First car for me was a KE70 Station wagon. Was reliable for what I wanted. Brought for $750 with rust. Ended up selling it to a panel beater car painter for $950 a year or 2 later. Wasn't bad really, and it really was a shaggin wagon.

My first car was a 1972 Hillman Hunter, 1725cc's of raw power  . This first belonged to my grand mother, and then my Dad bought off her for my mother. He did a manual conversion in it (good man). It was nasty silver with lost of rust when it was offered to me for $500. I bought it and within 6 months she was hot red with trident mags shoeing 225/60/13 Bridgestone Eager’s, air shocks, spot lights, Bridgestone window banner and new stereo with boxed speaker up on the parcel tray. I did keep the sheep skin covers as the vinyl seats where a nightmare in summer. I had her for five years while I was a student. She rocked!

Oh and this was in 1989, so back in the day she was very cool. I often got pulled up to have ‘random’ wof and rego checks. Times haven’t changed ay. ;)

sleeektoy - that is indeed a true classic. Used many an engine from the old Consul 315 but never owned a car.

My 1st - 1955 100E Anglia (similar to this one)

Shortly after followed a 105E which I rolled in an autocross in Wainuiomata and earned a kick in the pants from my mother.
