Blacktop 20V to early C52 box?

Anyone tried a blacktop 20v to an early C52 from an FXGT with the single starter bump casting on the exhaust side, its just the C52 has a TRD LSD fitted I would like to use without having to go to the expense of another LSD in the blacktop gearbox.

Had to modify the 20v headers (number 1 runner actually) slightly to allow the starter motor to sit in there.


i also ended up cooking the stater motor over the period of about 3 months because of the heat.

Some dont have to mod the headers, and never had problems with the heat affecting the startermotor.

you can use the LSD diff you have in a 'blacktop box' as it is the same

with the c56 ratios putting the LSD into the newer box is your best option

i had a c52 with an older starter and just removed some of the heat sheilding and stuff and it fitted fine

the reason why your starter cooked itself was because you heat wrapped the wrong thing, your ment to wrap the headers not the starter, keep the heat inside the exhaust not starter,

Not sure i agree with that, as even with the headers wrapped, they still died

oh ok, may just be the pick of the bunch, also the heat wrap will keep moisture inside too,

yeah, perhaps the starter motors i had were on their last legs. Not sure if anyone else has ever had an issue like that in this config

Not as yet, but the c56 from silvertops are slightly narrower by maybe 1mm if you're lucky, comapring with the c52 boxes. I may get keen and strip my c56 blacktop box down to check it out,

sorry dont have pics but the c56's iv had apart (my close ratio for certin does) had slightly wider cogs than the ae92 c52 I had sitting nearby, also part of 5th gear uses a screw in type puller rather than trying to use leg type.

strenght wont be an issue on a n/a 4age anyway, unless your gearbox is allready buggered.
