Rwd alternator bracket??????

Why????
Is this essential for rwd conversion? Wont a fwd one do?

It depends how your doing your water piping.

FWD water piping - use the FWD bracket, or I guess the RWD one if you really want to.

RWD water piping, you have to use the RWD bracket as the water pipes go where the alt sits.

yeah the rwd alternator bracket sits the alternator lower than the fwd setup. if you run rwd waterlines with a fwd bracket, the thermostat housing will hit the alternator.

But i can use the alternator ive got (4age) if i came across a rwd bracket? By the way if anyone has one and wants to sell.
I was going to use 3au water pump and do the whole rwd piping deal. Guess it will look tidier than fwd setup....i don't know.

Just use all the fwd stuff, there is lot's of little bits to get the rwd stuff to fit. It's not worth the time or the money.

There is lot's of info on the net about running the remote thermostat and every thing from the FWD stuff.

Even my car uses the standard FWD stuff, well, most of it.

if you've got a bluetop wouldnt you just use the stuff off that? or is it not going in an 86

And AE85 alternator mounts on the other side of the engine to an AE86.

You can modify the AE85 bracket and alternator to run on a 4AGE RWD so that it does not get in the way of the water pipes and you dont have to re-wire the alternator wiring.

my 85 has a bluetop in it

im running a smallport redtop. its an ae85 body but pretty much everything else is ae86.
