SW20 power steering only sometimes works

hey my powersteering is playing up and 90% of the time doesn't work. theres plenty of fluid and the warning light has never shown up. 1990 MR2 turbo. Any ideas???
I only noticed it after putting on momo wheel, though this may just be because of the smaller wheel size=less leverage making when it isn't working more noticable.

quite a common problem. try replacing the relay, and/or pulling the electric side of the pump apart and giving it a clean out.

Standard MR2 steering issue caused by one of the relays beside the spare wheel. A google search will find the fix, entailing some disassembly and soldering from memory.

Turn the ignition on and off about 20 times, that should clean the relay contacts. Failing that replace the relay.
