Postby normality78 » Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:30 pm

Guy's
Im not sure is my fren **** me out. Recently he just got his Ae111 "upgrade" to 7A (frm 4AFE) with 5AFE cam. He told me reason using 5AFE cam is due to higher cam lift. Can anyone tell me is he bullshiting or what?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

alrite guy's, i got to edit the contents and subject as the information that i given was not correct. The actual case was using 5A cam on 7A . Thousand apology

not entirely sure on the cam lift but bigger port size would only slow the air velocity= less power low to mid range if anything

FE head is economy
GE head is performance

eg

4AGE = more power 4AFE = less power

note: very rough guide

I don't think 5A head will fit 7A anyway, due to different bore sizes.

ha try telling that to bill sherwood, he has made a 4afe to produce 240 odd HP, don't underestimate the FE heads these days they have great designs and can out do the old GE heads easy,

Actually that motor was another unfinished project. He only software dynoed it to produce 240 hp... much as my 1600 V6 produced 275hp.

yes great designs for their intended purpose, which isnt 240hp!
as redmists mentioned, he hasnt actually got a motor up and running. and when you look at everything he's doing to that engine, it bloody well should make a crap load of power 8O
weather or not itll make 240hp remains to be seen.
in the mean time i think ill stick to the 4age heads.
having said that, imo the 4afe is the best non performance engine ever :D

and to answer the threads questions, as mentioned above, the 5a had a smaller bore than the 4a/7a. so 7a block and 5a head wouldnt work that well.
78.7 vs 81mm bores

So basically youve been spun a line from the lookks of it- 7afe upgrade is a bloody good option for those with the spam engined ae111's - no need for cracking open a perfectly good engine either, csn alway do he old turbo upgrade like on TWSTDs old 4wd Carib- T25 turbo with std computer, injector and map sensor swap. ON his 4wd at 9psi fueling was spot on, and gave a respectable 105? KWs at the treads.
