Clutch bolts

Postby method » Sun Aug 05, 2007 11:49 pm

Had a bit of a afterthought

I bolted up my clutch and one of the bolts i had was about 5-10mm longer than the others.

Would this throw it off balance? I mean the things spinning at over 100 revs a second when the engines near redline.

But then its only a few grams and the whole flywheel + clutch would weigh at least 10kg so there could be enough centrifugal force to keep it stable.
I don't have much knowledge of applied physics, just the concepts

Would it wear out the engines main bearing noticeably faster?
Just would mean id have to pull the bloody box out again.

I wouldn't think so, but i'd still change it. Especially since i'd rather not have anything spinning at that speed coming undone so close to m crotch ;) even if it was only a slight maybe. Alloy bell housings aren't the most resilient things!

if the longer one fits without any hassles I'd personally be inclined to change all th short ones to be the same length as the long one

Nah well the long one bolts through the flywheel and sticks out on the other side slightly, so its too long.

The others are the perfect length.
