That's a bit like asking how long a piece of string is. Depends on how the day progresses, how many people pull out during the day and how smoothly it's run etc etc....

Most peopple will generally get enough track time on these sort of days to satisfy themselves 8)

Man if you can get out and do 5 heats of 10 minutes at a time you'll be doing well I no that does'nt sound like much but when your giving your car death 50 minutes at near on full throttle is alot for a car to take and you'll find that that is heaps.......

At recent Mag an Turbo Track day there were more participants than there is going to be at megameet track day and track time was more than enough IMO

i got 4 10min runs in within a few hours and even tho my car shit itself i was satisfied, rest of the people got up to 7 times out on the track and they were more than happy.

Agree with no slicks, i cant even afford semi's haha 195/45/15's are expensive enough to fry to pieces

I have slicks... slicks is what you run on a track. 3 people from down here were going to run slicks.
It costs the same for good DOT rated semis as it does for slicks, and slicks last longer and perform better on the track than semis. Why make it DOT only?

Sorry Brad....should have worded that a wee bit better, was rushing away for a meeting at the time

what I should have asked is.....are you running the track day for the full day or just half a day?

Cheers

why do you need slicks? do you have like 700hp? and u cant get the power to the ground so u need them? are u racing for poitns or something? or you cant drive well so u need them?

race cars use slicks
some ppl have race cars that are used at events with slicks....
at a race tracks theres corners.
slicks help you go around corners faster
going around corners faster leads to a faster lap time
for a lot of ppl, a faster lap time is the goal.

99% of all clubsport events don't allow slicks as per MSNZ rules,

so all hillclimbs, street sprints, most track sprints etc etc.

You will need to see if you run a MSNZ permit, and what it's under.

as said, most clubsport events ban slicks,
and non clubsort events require a national race licence.

From what I have seen of the entry list of cars there will be no one there doing 1.16s even if they had slicks. It does'nt really matter anyway does it I don't think there are any real hardcore racers going to be there its a fun day I was lead to believe..... :)

so what you are saying is that if per chance you were given some 2nd hand slicks you can't run them. i mean some of us can't afford to damage our road tyres so when the offer of free slicks comes about we can't use them. I think that is a bit of a joke also considering this is an"FUN DAY" should it matter what tyres we run we aren't going for posistions it's not a race it's "FUN" so my question is should it matter!!!

for example i could turn up with a 700hp racecar and blitz everything but thats my choice but then again i could turn up with a 100hp car rough and ready and have a great day i guess what i am trying to say is leave the decsion up to the the club member entering

but its a track day, not a competitiive event at all, so its not a clubsport event. its a track day at manfiled, which allows slicks.
just like all the other toyspeed track days.

Ill be bringing my slicks that ive never used before - i want to try them out - see what they are like and how the car handles with them compared to semis. Not trying to rock any boats, but I would like to echo and support Warwicks statement above.
