4age Clutch Qn

Postby toy.corolla » Thu Aug 09, 2007 4:53 pm

Hey guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a BZ Touring Carib done around 70,000kms. They check said that the clutch wear is evident & that the clutch engages at the end of travel. Is there anything strange about this?

Cheers,

not strange....just means clutch has some wear on it...how much, thats the unknown.

It could be just a little worn or it could be almost dead....the only way to tell would be by knowing where the clutch engaged when installed as new V's where it engages now.

Have you taken it for a drive? Is there any slippage while driving? Have you asked when the clutch was last changed?

These will give you an indication of possible life left in it

Thanks for your help 2Ltr Rona. It should be fine, was just noted on the report and was wondering if these cars wore them out quicker than any other cars.

I highly doubt the "car" wears them out quicker than others.....more like a wandering left foot in heels

Km's on my 20v clutch are getting close to double that, no slippage.

I'd expect more than 70k thats for sure, i'm aiming for 200k

I had a charade detomaso with 69k's, and it was imported with a slipping clutch (i never drove it like that tho, it must have been stuffed enough for the dealer to replace)
