The only thing that would ruin guy's from using Semi's or a full slick is RAIN...But yeah I reckon slicks have to be able to give you at least 2 -3 seconds a lap over semi's.

Meh, If I wear out my semi's (which are almost dead) and I have the $$$ I have slicks for the day.

At the end of the day its the organisers call, so if Brad says nay, thats it...

for example i could turn up with a 700hp racecar and blitz everything but thats my choice but then again i could turn up with a 100hp car rough and ready and have a great day i guess what i am trying to say is leave the decsion up to the the club member entering

For 1, why are you getting so wound up, you're not even entered?
2 Matt Dunn's point is quite valid, and I'm going to confirm this afternoon whether in fact slicks would be allowed...it is going to be run through Manawatu Car Club so it'll have to conform to their rules.
3 As a liability issue...I'm concerned about those going out with cold slicks with people on road tyres...you know how slippery they are!

Nope, my 90KW corolla does 1:12s when I put it on slicks. I can get the car up to 150KM/h (barely) and then hold that speed around the whole track, I don't even need to slow down for the hairpin. :P

matt: slicks are allowed on tracks. You will will find they are not allowed in any sealed event that is not a track because of design (runoffs etc.) and uneven inconsistent seal surfaces on roads etc.
In some clubsport events they are not wanted on the track to keep the competition closer and cheaper, but this is Manfield, the guy with the most power goes the fastest, and besides it's a fun day, and the fun for me is to try and get my PB down.

People with 80KW cars going out at the same time as 300KW cars would be a far more dangerous situation.

To an extent HP is important but I would go for grip, setup and brakes before power but it is certainly good to have.

well here are the answers i have for you:
1:i am only asking as there was alot of discussion about it and thought they needed a simple answer and shouldn't it be a weekend that steers away from spending alot of money and have some fun for me Free is FREE!!
2:i think it was Mr Revhead that said club track days differ from MSNZ rules i'm unsure of this myself so no comment.
3:semi slicks are slippery when cold also i think most of the entrents are aware of the dangers of cold tyres and if they want go out and trash the living sh*t out of there cars when cold thats there problem. come to think of it aren't new road tyres slippery when new/cold???

my point out all of this is let them race whatever the tyres!!!!!

Summed up nicely, I know PC will be trying to beat only himself, as he has a goal in mind so it's basically a test day for him,
If you want to run road tires or slicks, unless the organiser or the rules say differently who cares....

just like all the other toyspeed track days.

which is why this was added.

We here are under the unfortunate position at levels where as the track is 100% club owned no one is able to ever run an event without a permit,
even private hires or track days.

And as I've previously mentioned, this day is being run through Manawatu Car Club...so will (probably)have to run a MSNZ permit.

On a happier note not involving people complaining - for those who are interested, we have a paintball field booked for the saturday. $20 for the first 100 rounds, and $10/15 for the 100 after that.
Or if you're real keen, $40 will get you 500 rounds

Best put myself down for the $40. I'll probably use each and every one and ony get 12 hits. :)

As above, depends on too many things to say for sure. Plenty anyway.

Sorry Brad....should have worded that a wee bit better, was rushing away for a meeting at the time

what I should have asked is.....are you running the track day for the full day or just half a day?

Cheers

We have the track for the entire day, however, the morning will be an autocross (this is for the permit) and the afternoon will be sprints.
