Toyota doesn't need Alonso, they need someone who can build a team and develop a car. Alono is all about himself, and causes problems with the other driver in the team unless they are prepared to bow down to him.
IMO F1 is 70% the car, 25% the team and 5% the driver. The car get you consistently in the top 10, the team get's you consistently on the podium, and the driver wins the championship for you, but only if he has the car and the team to back it up.
Toyota needs to be on the look out for a new upcoming driver like Kubica, Rosberg or Piquet Jr. Couple that with an experienced team building driver that can get results and then they may have a chance.

If they go for the young talent who is to say that they will progress under say a Jarno Trulli????
At least if Alonso did go to Toyota he would surely be the clear No.1 driver so he would'nt have the problems he is having at Mclaren.
I just think that if Alonso was to go to Toyota they would have a better chance of progressing more quickly than say a younger talent still learning his craft and bar the bitching and moaning Alonso is doing at Mclaren he is still at the top of the food chain when it comes to driver talent.

That's not the way F1 works, it's not the job of the #1 driver to mentor the #2, that's the job of the team. Most driver egos are too strong to do a good job of fostering a new driver. They're there to win, not to teach someone else to win.

Alonso brings those problems with him wherever he goes, very few drivers are content being a #2 regardless of their talent, even Irvine and Barichello couldn't handle it forever.

But Toyota isn't at the top of the teams, and Alonso wants more championships so he's unlikely to even consider it. And like I said beofre the driver is only 5% of what it take to win a championship, Toyota need the car and the team first, they're 90% there with the car, but they've got a long way to go getting a team in place. Right now having a prima donna like Alonso in the team is more likely to be a backward step rather than a forward one.

has anyone heard an rumours about who toyota may get to replace ralf?
Perhaps a certian Mr Dixon should put a cheaky call in to them, though i dont know what his current contract has to run.
But put it this way, he could hardly do worse than Ralf & he'd be a hell of a lot cheaper.
Ending up with spare parts in assembling things since 1983

Why would he want to go from a front running team in the IRL etc to a back runner team in F1?

On F1.com theres an interesting interview with Sir Frank Williams John Howlett Alex Wurz Ralf Schumacher it seems if you read between the lines that a driver swap might be on the cards Wurz for Schmacher well thats how I'm reading it.Nico Rosberg is locked up at Williams they also went onto say.
Scott Dixon well I think if he was going to go to F1 he'd be there by now and I can't really see him moving from IRL as he seems quite set there.
