Stereo Removal advice needed

I just bought a '93 Corona 2.0 (best thing I have done in a while ). I will be replacing the oe head unit and speakers . I have a couple of questions that may save me some grief.
How do I go about removing the head unit without doing damage to the plastic surround? Also what hooks do I need to keep my eyes open for when removing the door panels?
Do the Caldina plastic mirror panels interchange with the Corona ones? as I have some Alpines with crossovers that I may fit.

Sorted. While I was in amongst it I found that water is making its way to the rear door panels , so I`m going to place a plastic 'curtain' behind the factory plastic to prevent this happening again.

Attack it from the ouside. As a first option??
Running all new wiring and cable etc etc, should be better.

Stereo sorted and working well. From reading other posts here I know that JVC isn`t ranked well but it is a higher end unit and is way better than OE. Also found some tweeter covers & brackets from a import hatch, not as nice as the post 98 Caldina units but they fit exact.

What I didn`t tell you previously was that the first JVC headunit didn`t function correctly so I put in the spare, a LH 1105. Great sound, the opera CD was inspirational . Then after a week and due to a poor repair by the previous owner ( and my laziness in not sorting it ) the tweeter wire found earth and blew the output I.C . So.. two h/units down.
Everything is sweet now; both units are working well after the faults were found and remedied by McAllister Radio Repairs in Glen Eden. Big Thanks go to Ross; your efforts were appreciated .
