Window Tinting

Postby haydo » Tue Aug 28, 2007 11:09 am

I'm currently looking into my options of window tinting my AE101 Trueno

I've done my research throughout the forum and looks like to get it professionally done it will cost anywhere around $300.

From what i've seen Tint Rolls are relatively cheap and comes with everything you need for roughly $20 a roll. Has anybody done it themselves? I'm curious to know how good it turned out, any tips etc and anything I should be aware of?

Thanks Haydo

I've tinted a few cars, I'd probably just pay for it next time.

You get a warrenty and it all ways comes out perfict if you pay. Mine all ways had little defects, you couldn't tell on the out side, but sitting in the car you could.

If you're going to give it a go, take the windows out if you can, makes it much easier, and use lots of liquid other wise it turns to poo prety quick.
Oh, buy quite a bit more than you need, caus you'll prolly stuff the first one or two windows up.

Can't hurt to give it ago, at least the tint is pretty cheap.

Yeah thats a fair point with the warranty. I'd rather pay extra in order for it to be a good job as I'm not one for imperfections. If anyone in CHCH knows of any good places that do a good job and preferably not overally expensive please let me know or if anyone wants to do a cashy.

pay that bit extra for a decent job, should be better in the long run

gotta take moving windows out imo - looks ok for a couple of weeks, then it starts to peel off.

for the time you'll spend better to get it done by a pro imho.

There is the special at hyper tyre for $199, can't complain with that.

You need to have the coupon out of a performance car though.

Haha, a mate of mine asked me 'How the hell do you get it to stick to the window?' I said 'You take the backing off'.

Just my 2c.
