intake and cold air boxes

Postby HT » Wed Aug 29, 2007 5:33 pm

Hi, i have an ae101 ceres with the silvertop in it. ive been tossing up wether to do anything to it and have decided i might put a pod filter on along with afew other little things gradually,

by the looks of my engine bay i could possibly fit a pod filter straight onto the is it AFM? just before factory air box, soooo question 1 is : will chucking it on be alrite? or am i wasting my time there an would be much better off to get an aftermarket intake pipe aswell?

and question 2, How much do aftermarket cold air boxes approxmidatly cost and wheres a good place to go in CHCH? (or is easy enough to do with sum sheet metal at home)

any help would be appreciated!, still new to cars etc so just trying to get it all sorted before i rush on in! :D :D

Cheers Andrew

Don't bother with pod filters or cold airboxes.
Just get one of those washable panel replacements from K&N.
I personally have not seen any gains on dyno from a pod filter (which BTW is located inside of the guard and far away from engine bay hot air) versus stock intake system.

Go ahead if you want to mate, my car came with a short ram intake and i've no inclination to change it whatsoever, love the sound short rams make... not always about power...

makes it sound cool but thats all.. had blue top with huge intake was really loud and had awesome suck noise when you feather the throtle but no real performance upgrade however.

Yup, same here. Sounds louder... but that's about it.
