Supra 2jz '94 upwards - auto vs manual

Postby TRDmod » Fri Aug 31, 2007 1:25 am

Just want to know.
Twin turbo supra. same year, lets say same circumstances, but only difference is the manual and auto trans.

If i get an auto, id ont want a racer, i want a pure relaxing cruiser. what kinda power can i get out of auto. Do i get less out of auto. Does the t-Converter have less threshold for power handling? thana a manual clutch?

Gear box of auto versus manual?
everything about it. What different things do i approach with an auto?
Have you got the hots? for what's in the box with the dots? ..... 0800 30 40 50

other than the fact the manuals are a really nice box theres not that much difference if you're not getting silly.
2jayzgte on this forum track works an auto with up to 300kw and his seems to hold out alright.

if you want it as a cruiser, then go for the auto, the losses are minimal betweent he auto and manual, and it's just nicer not having to worry about having to use the clutch and gears in the manual when you're just out for a cruise. they still go like the clappers when you plant your right foot, it's just one less thing you have to worry about.

for a real relaxing cruiser though, and still powered by a 2jzgte, i'd go for an aristo, big laxobarge feeling, comfy as, will easily seat 5 full grown adults, still pulls like a supra and embarass little wannabe's when they get beaten by a "big old sedan"

supra chicks out west? sounds like suze and brenda, they run 7m's in mk3 supras, and definitely not in the tens. john who has a 1.5jz goes round there quite often, and he was running 11's with backing off all last season.
