Replacing Power Steering & Alternator Belt on AE111

Postby HZRDIZ » Wed Sep 05, 2007 12:46 pm

Ok so to pass my next warrent i need to replace the above belts.

How hard is this to do myself, what tools will i need and how long approximately to get it done???

Or is it better just to send it into the garage to get fixed (considering i have to get one of my rods replaced on the front left wheel) as i have no idea which is the power steering belt and which is the alternator belt.

Thanks

CMR

What the belts have to do with WOF?
You will need 10mm socket with ratchet and probably extension - this to remove plastic covers under the car
You will need 14mm socket/spanner to undo the 14mm nuts on both tensioners,
You will need 14mm socket with long extension (couple of them) to lower the tensioners down (you will find alternator tensioner bolt next to dipstick).
Assembly is in reverse of removal.

Power steering belts can fail, the others you shouldn't unless it poses a risk. For FE equiped cars, that will include the water pump one as it transfers from it.
