Take it to the dump and pour it in the oil waste bin. Shame on anyone who pours that shit into the ground, drain etc. :evil:

Landfills are lined and fully sealed. There are plenty of heavy metal leachates in landfills from other household items much more toxic than oil that they are trying to keep out of the earth.

While it may be true that a new/modern landfill is supposedly lined and fully sealed... I don't think I would trust or rely on that. Being "sort of" in an industry that has some dealings with that sector... I really wouldn't trust it, despite how safe they claim it is.

I use a bucket with a pouring spout to catch my oil... Or at least I did until I squashed it accidentally.

I have a 20L container from plastic box, and last time i emptied it i went to westhaven marina and they had an oil collection station thingee there.

I work for a regional council (yes, I'm an environmental petrol-head, very conflicted), a guy down here tipped it into a stormwater drain 6-7 years ago and received a $5000 fine plus clean up costs and these days it would be significantly more so DONT do it, it ain't worth it.

Most landfills these days are lined but there are still some that aren't, but even if it is lined, the leachate still has to go somewhere to be treated. It makes more sense to recycle it or find alternative uses. (Like lubbing up baby fur seals :twisted:
