TS Meet & Greet Summer BBQ. (6 October 2007)

Postby Silent Knight » Wed Sep 05, 2007 12:21 pm

I've been thinking a wee while about this and there's allot of new faces coming in to the whole TS scene currently and I'd say there's a bit of a rift that exists between the 'Old Skool' and 'New Skool' members on TS. No one really knows each other etc etc

SO... what I'm thinking about is once summer comes along (well say about a month or so) is to organise a big sorta BBQ/Beer day for all to come along and meet each other and get to know your fellow TS'ers.

Now in the past when things like this has been organised turnouts have been poor and there's always people complaining about this and that etc etc but I feel it will be good for everyone to get to know each other. This way it help pump up the meets a bit more and attrack new people when they see we are as a club all getting along and get good turnout at meets etc.

I'll even volunteer my house for this to happen even though I'd say we could only fit probably a maximum of around 30 people there if we get all the cars moved but I reckon it could be sufficient.

Who would be keen/will actually make an effort to come to something like this if I were to go ahead and organise it? I'll setup a poll once I think about dates and you can all vote on which date will be best suited, the date with most votes will be the one the BBQ is held on.

VOICE OPINIONS NEEAAUU!!!

[EDIT]

Right here's the info - I will PM everyone on the list my address at the end of the thread if you have put your name in the list like I asked. Your name not on the list and you shall receive no address!!

BYO Everything.

I will provide the gas/BBQ and utensils. That's it. :P
It would be a good idea to get some fold out chairs as well as I only have 2 outside chairs. Parking is in the street, not nearly enough room at the house for all of your cars.

Festivities will kick off at around 2PM so you can show up anytime from there.

Lookn forward to seeing you all here!

Can we set a date before the venue? That will at least give people a better idea if they can make it or not :D

Funny you should mention it, im working on a very simlar idea for the very same reason..

Only difference is ive been looking at hiring a venue that provides drinks ie a school hall sports club etc, ( mt roskills Auckland car club? venue was my main idea )

I felt this would better accomodate higher numbers and be better able to cope with many cars parked at the site..

What do you guys prefer the idea of?

Free venue is a good venue. Though I'm not partial to drink driving, so odds are I'd have to stay sober :?

Cliff I think starting simple would probably be best rather than looking at hiring a venue or something like that, if things go good then in future if we know there will be enough interest and people showing up etc we could possibly look at getting a venue every now and then for a big AK get together or something rather...

The BBQ will definately be on a Saturday as that will accommodate most people. Yes I know we won't always be able to make everyone happy but it's a start...

I think instead of going out to a beach or something we'll try doing something more central as this will be a test for 'good things to come' basically. Also if it is centralized then people could probably look at car pooling and assigning a sober driver or getting your missus to drive etc so you can have a couple with the rest!!

Sound good?

I'd be keen.

Having it at someones place is more convenient from a BBQ point of view too. The ones at One Tree Hill (for example) are hard work at best compared to a decent BBQ.

Perhaps i didnt make myself clear the only cost would be of that of the drinks ( the ones youd pay for anyway, this just means you get a fresh beer on tap not a warmer one out of your 12 pack. ).

The cost of buying the drinks and not BYO is off set as the cost to use the venue i have in mind.

Would anyone else " keen to come " care to weigh in on this?
