4agze ECU's

Postby Calvin » Sun Sep 09, 2007 4:46 pm

Just wondering if there is any difference between the A/T and M/T ecu's from the Big PORT (AW11) 4agze ECUs? or do they do the same job. I have a bigport gze (Auto) in a ae92 gtz (manual) . I am using the aw loom and ecu.

Reason i ask is my mate is using a automatic ecu on a manual (converted) small port red top. He reckons that because of this he gets a high idle, because the ecu thinks the car is in P (Park)

ANy thoughts?

im not sure about high idle but i know some auto ECU's that lower the rev limit because it thinks its in park and free revving so lowers it a tad, high idle could be a few things, air leak, constant cold start, butterfly not sealing, etc.

thanks for that frost. My car has high idle due to timing being slightly out.. but i was just wondering about this issue aswell.
So you think the ecu would be fine?

you will find a lot, if not all. aw11 N/A ecus had A/T on them.....

im not sure on the S/C ones.
when using an A/T ecu in others cars you need to bridge the wires for the gear sensor, if the ecu thinks its in any gear other than park it wont allow the engine to start.

i would be more inclined to think the idle is the all to common 4agze issue, but thats normally a surging idle.

Engine starts so no worries there. The ECU itself does not indicate whether it is AT or MT so i assume they are generic?
