20v gearbox

Ok well just yesterday my car has lost 1st gear well it will pop out of gear everytime when i try to take off!!so i have been having to take off in second now......rrrrrrrrr...
the car has never done this before or shown any signs of this in any way...it only ever poped out of reverse every so often.
so i thought it was pretty random to just go from fine to cant move in 1st at all!!

Guessing this means new gearbox???as the 1st gear syncro is f##kd??
any advise on where to find a gearbox or help with the old one would be great.
