Ae92 and coil over springs

Postby toymachine » Sat Sep 08, 2007 8:21 pm

Hey there.

I've a set of adjustable springs i took out of a 88 honda prelude, and seeing as though that's a double wishbone setup as opposed to my AE92's mac pherson strut I never even considered they'd work...

I had a fella today tell me otherwise, but is this true? They're far to small to even come close to filling out the plate the current springs are sitting on...

Yup, slide the tube over the strut and do up the grub screws. Duno about the height or spring rate though. And youll need cert.

Is it safe though? That's what i'm thinking about, It'd be cool to lower the car a bit etc but I dont want to ruin the handling or anything.

Yeah, which is why I was wondering what he was on about. He said you could get those springs in there inplace of the current ones and you'd be set... i was seriously doubting this but hey...

if you have stok struts, as in non adjustable facroty struts, as opposed to adjustable coilovers then no, you wont be able to do that.

I've got adjustable springs... but that doesn't seem like a bad price if they'd suit my car?

what do you mean adjustable springs??

do you have:
a: standard struts
b: height adjustable coilovers, as in you can wind the spring seat up and down?

if you have a, then no you cant fit them.

if you have b then yes you can, provided they are the correct diameter.

yuck :x those things are absolutely horrible and i cant believe people still sell them ! The spring rates are horrid and generally arent matched for anything . Koni however do make a coilover kit for ae92 or failing that if youre not going to use it on a race track then someone on here is selling a set of lowered ae92 dobis .
Im the Daddy of the Mack Daddys ! :-)

Yeah I have a set of Dobi lowering springs. Went great in the levin, and they were alot lower than any other AE92 I had seen.

I have a pic of how low my car was with them here. (if you were wanting to go low)
