Corolla AE101 engine swaps?

My daily hack 93 AE101 Corolla wagons engine is dieing (though has almost done 500,000ks on the standard motor..):lol:

its an NZ new petrol model, toyotas aren't my thing and i don't know much about what bolts in what. But anyone here put in a 20v motor or anything else thats a fairly strait forward bolt in job?



Any suggestions would be great.. cheers.

what about wiring? will a 20v loom match up to the corollas body loom?

not really...

If you want to just replace it, find out what it is, and replace it with the same thing.

If you want to make it something a bit different, have a look at the other 4a range... most if not all will fit, it then depends on how far you want to go.

if it's a manual, then a similar year 20v should plug straight up, only reason we had issues with mine was that it was auto 20v into manual car, so had to redo the wiring. toyota got a bit lazy and similar models all have same looms, why you see some cars with plugs that don't get used for anything, haha.

yeah the body is ok, but motor is at the end of its life, last oil change i have to put a stop smoke in it..
Not interested in turbo, its not a project car.

Suspension is high quality top of the line cut springs.
Its just my daily shitter, surf hack, but I still probably drive it more than my rotors..

Hmm, yeah not sure what to do. is standard 4afe just needs a new motor and thought while im doing it, might get something a little bit better than the stock motor.. but don't want to have to buy computers and mess around.
