Yea, I have to agree on the Renesis engine. When I drove one, I found myself cruising at 4,000RPM without realising. Hah
They may make quite a bit of power, but you've gotta remember, its not how MUCH it makes, but how it makes it.
Also, with N/A engines, you find that the torque (in Nm) is often relitive to the engine capacity. Eg a 2 litre will make between 190Nm to 210Nm. A 3 litre is around 290Nm to 310 Nm etc. There are exceptions, but this seems to be the general trend.
The Renesis engine is a 1.3l and makes 211Nm. But remember, in a single rotation, you get 2 combustions. So the capacity may be 1.3l, but its actually producing power around what a 2.6l should be. So the torque is actually on the lower side, whereas a piston based 2.6 would produce more around the 250Nm mark.
Just something you should note, as torque is important.
But if you're chucking into something light like an AE86, then you shouldn't worry too much anyway, but always good to keep in mind
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
