ae92 dash lights not going!

Postby docTRD » Tue Sep 25, 2007 11:15 pm

hey having trouble getin my dash lights on my ae92 GT sedan working, the engine check light, oil light etc all those ones on the bottom dont seem to come on at all, nothingon acc either. only the door open light comes on wen door is open! very odd. been scratchin my head over it for ages now. so far i can work out thers 1 fuse thats feedin all those lights and thats fine so meh. any ideas? without the engine check light very hard to diagnose other problems.

how did that happen?
eg, did you do some work on the car and they stopped working?

yes the dash and gauge cluster has been in and out a few times , but all the other lights go on the dash as in night lights behind the gauges etc and the gauges work just none of the warning lights. ive also swapped the 4age smallport motors as i fried the bottom end in the old one *cough* with another I scored from Ken Evans.Ken and I have nutted over why these lights have not been comin up but no luck..

right. well if the (in)famous kinloud is confuzzled then i cant help!

i was going to suggest a loose plug when you siad its been in and out...
you havnt possibly pulled an earth out of its plug have you?

try and get a wiring diagram, have a look and see if all the affected lights share a power feed or something

Postby docTRD » Tue Sep 25, 2007 11:37 pm

haha yea its dam confusing! ive got a haynes manual with the gt model covered and weve had a crak at that, it seems like the main feed for 12v line feeds all of those lights so one would think itd b dodgy, i was thinkin of maybe hardwiring up another? muhaha . and yea il check grounds. cheers man

I would check the fuses under the kick panel by the drivers door first, I had the same problem in my impreza, I checked the fuses all with a multimeter after pulling the dash out the died, The blade type fuses were all ok according to the multimeter but after weeks of being stumped I pulled them all out 1 by one and found one had blown but was still holding on by a thread so to speak but obviously not enough to let sufficient current pass through

It would have made life easier if the fuse box was labeled in english

pm gasman on these forums, he's a bit of a whizz when it comes to the electrical stuff like the dash etc, I'm sure when he wired my car it wasn't working for a while and then he figured it out somehow O_o
